Sept 19, Zion National Park
Monday, September 29, we arrived at the park early. With so many visitors parking is at a premium. If you do not arrive before 10am you will have to park outside the park and take a shuttle bus into the park from the town of Springdale.
We got on the park shuttle bus and decided to head to the Lower and Upper Emerald Pool Trail. The trail has minor drop-offs, however a paved trail leads to the Lower Emerald Pool and waterfalls. There is a trail to Middle Emerald Pool, however that trail was closed due to some rock slides. We were able to connect to the Upper Pool Trail that has some minor drop offs and a sandy and rocky trail that leads to the Upper Emerald Pool as the base of a cliff.
It was a good climb but the views were well worth the climb. Then, of course we have to work our way back down again!! Along the trail we found a friend sunning himself on a rock....furry little guy!
We also took the Kayenta Trail that leads from the Emerald Pool Trail head along an unpaved trail through the Grotto and on to the Zion Lodge!
