Anacortes, Washington

We arrived in Anacortes on August 1. It is here that we meet up with our NWA RV-Flyer friends to spend some a relaxing month! We were the last of our group to arrive here at Fidalgo Bay. There were eight other coaches waiting for us..... as usual the fun began almost as soon as we arrived. The first order of business was to celebrate with "crab night"! What a feast!!!! The crabs are so sweet and wonderful, add to that the corn on the cob, salad, bread, and along with the wine came the stories and laughs.
The weather here is wonderful. Warm sunny days (for the most part) and cool starry nights.

Each day begins with a three mile walk into town and back along the railroad path. On Saturdays we stop in the farmers market to pick up fresh fruit and vegetables. The fresh berries here are wonderful. Raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. The cherries were about at the end of the season. Along the trail to town are wild blackberries just rip for the picking. One of our friends, Fred, loved the berries so much he went to his coach and with all of his tools he invented a berry picker. That way he could reach to ripe ones along the top of the vine and not get into the thorns along the bottom. The cobblers and pies we each made were out of this world. All the gals here are great cooks, the food is wonderful each and every night! Looks like we will have to go back on our diets soon!

The first weekend that we were here there was an arts and crafts festival in town. The festival takes over about six blocks down main street. It is Friday, Saturday and Sunday with lots of things to see and buy, along with great food and wonderful music. It rained on Saturday but that did not dampen our spirits.

As my computer had died along our route here, I have been spending time transferring my photos and information to the new computer. I have so many photos it is really taking a long time, however I am determined to get all of my photos before the old computer quits altogether. What a job!!!

Later we are going out whale watching, so stay tuned for the next installment to see what we saw.

That is all for now, I am glad that I am finally get caught up on my blog and I apologize for taking so much time.

Until later, remember that we love to hear from you also,

McMinneville, Oregon

On July 21, 2010 we left Newport and headed inland to McMinnville. It has been so windy and cool along the coast that we decided to head for some warmer weather! It was a short drive and a pretty one along the coast heading north and then east.

The Olde Stone Village Campground that we like to stay at is next to the Evergreen Aviation(home of the Spruce Goose Aircraft) and Space Museum(home of a Titan II missile). We have been to both museum's on our last visits. To our surprise when we turned the corner they had begun adding another building.... with a 747 sitting on the top!! We later learned they plan for a nine-room lodge and indoor water park.
One of the main reasons that we enjoy McMinnville and the Yamhill Valley is that is home to a great many wineries!! Naturally we had to visit a few and sample some of their wines. My favorite is Domaine Serene. I love their wines and there winery is lovely with beautiful views of the valley below. We also stopped at several other, however once you have tasted the best the others are somewhat of a let down!(at least to me).

The weather was wonderful and warm after the cool coast.

From here we will head north to Washington state and Anacortes where we will spend a month, joining some of our NWA RV friends for good food, good times and a lot of laughs.

More later, until then,

Along the Oregon Coast

July 19, 2010, it was a beautiful sunny day so we decided to head along the coast to have lunch and enjoy the day, as it had been to overcast and gloomy for the past three days.

As you can see, it was a perfect day! The views were wonderful. The coast of Oregon is so varied and beautiful. Each place you stop to view the coast is more beautiful than the last!!
Hope you enjoy the photos, as they really do not do full justice to the beauty of the coast.

Love to all ,

Newport, Oregon

We left Victor, Idaho on July 13th and headed to Bend, Oregon. Bend is a beautiful little town in middle Oregon. The weather was warm and the RV park that we stayed in was lovely!!!
I was still having problems with my breathing due to all the pollen in the air in West Yellowstone and the Teton National Parks.

As there was still pollen in the air in Bend we left and once again headed west to the Oregon coast, hoping that the sea air would help clear the pollen from my lungs. We found ourselves once again in Newport Oregon. A lovely town along the coast. The RV park is also beside the marina. The bridge is such a lovely sight with the sun setting in the background. The weather was rather cool, however the main problem was the wind. It was very very windy!!! We did go into town and walk around and have lunch one day. The local seals were once again along the boardwalk. They are always near where the fishing boats come in with their catch (just in case there may be some scraps that find there way into the water).

Next to the RV park is the Rogue Brewing Company. Naturally, we had to have lunch there and sample some of the local brew!!! We always seem to find the best places to stop!

That is all for now, more on the Oregon Coast later.

Love to all,

Candy and Johnny
