Hi All, Hope all is well with everyone. We are still having a wonderful time here along the Oregon Coast!! The coast is so beautiful weather the sun is shining bright or the coast is shrouded in fog.

Yesterday we drove up to the city of Lincoln to go to the outlet mall there for a little shopping. That was fun!!

On the way back home we stopped in the small town of Depoe. It is right on the ocean and is known for whale watching and the world's smallest harbour. We did spot two whales not too far off the shore line. I understand that there is a pod of whales that live there most of the year. We also saw several sea lions and of course many birds.

The world's smallest harbour is exactly that... a very small harbour. You come in straight off the ocean and the opening is very narrow, you do not back off the power until you are past the entrance, where you have to make a tight left turn under the bridge and then into the small harbour.
We watched several boats going in and out and were glad that it was not us on the boats!!!

On the way back to Newport Bay the fog was rolling in off shore. You can see the light house in the distance in the last picture. I tried to catch the light in my picture, but it was not to be... oh well.

When we got back to Newport Bay, the sun was shining but the fog bank was still sitting off shore. We went to dinner at the Rogue Brew House with our friends, Chris and Jan Hanks. A good time was had by all!!!!

Hope all is well with everyone. We love and miss you all. Keep in touch, we love to her from you. Candy and Johnny

Aug. 29, 2007

Hi, Another beautiful day here on the Oregon coast!! Today we went over to the OregonCoast Aquarium.. It is not a big place but it
was fun anyway.

They had sea lions, Otters, and lot of fish and crabs and underwater animals. They have the tunnel where you walk through and the fish and sharks and stingrays swim all around and over you. They had lots of different crabs. There was a large spider crab that comes from Japan that can grow up to about 13 feet and live a long time. They have a tidal pool where you can touch the star fish.
We had a good time looking at all the animals.

After that we drove to the historic distric again as I had some shopping that I wanted do. John goes along with me but not too willingly....

Not sure what tomorrow will bring, hopefully another beautiful day here.

I hope all is well with all of you.
Our love to all,

Candy and Johnny

Tillamook, Oregon Monday 8/27/2007

Hi, Today we travelled to Tellamook, OR. We stopped at the huge cheese factory there and watched how they make cheese. We did not buy any cheese but we did taste the ice-cream that they make... good.

From there we went to the Naval Air Museum that is just south of town. During WWII they built 2 wooden hangers at Tillamook. These hangers were built in 1942 and housed 8 blimps each that were used to patrol the coastline. These hangers were built from woof from around the area because the all the metal at that time was being used for aircraft and tanks. Watching the video of these structures being built was very interesting. There is only one hanger left as after the war there was no longer a reason for the hangers and they were used as logging mills for a while and then when logging was no longer needed one of the hangers was used for hay storage. One night in1992 it caught on fire and went up in flames. The firefighters could not save the building on fire so they put all their efforts into saving the remaining hanger. Since 1994 the remaining hanger has been used as a museum for one of the finest collections of privatey owned WWII flying aircraft in the nation. I can't get over how huge this place us and to see the wooden structure is incredible!

We drove back down to Newport enjoying the beautiful day, although is was a bit windy today. We have been very lucky with the weather, one day is prettier than the last!

Not sure what we have planned for tomorrow, maybe we will take the day off and just rest. The car is making a strange noise so we are going to have that looked at, I hope it is nothing serious.... stay tuned.....

Until later.... Love Candy and Johnny

Newport, Oregon

Hi All,

We are in Newport, Oregon. We left McMinnville and the wonderful wine country on Friday 8/24 and drove over here to the coast.
This is a cute fishing and crabbing village here on the coast. We are staying at the Newport Marina and RV resort.

We are right on the water overlooking many fishing and pleasure boats. Yesterday we went to the local farmers market and got some more fresh fruit! The berries are in season and are wonderful! We then walked around the old historic district, watched them bring in some crab and also saw the seals that make the water front their home.

We then went to the local light house. It is the only light house left here in Oregon that had the living quarters and the lighthouse all in the same building. It was going to be
torn down in 1946, but the local town people got together and saved it from demolition.
They had to do a great deal of renovation and it is beautiful today.

We are going to drive over to the town of Toledo as there is a wooden boat show over there this afternoon.

This morning there was some fog but it has lifted and it is a beautiful day today, we have really been lucky with the weather since we left home.

At night you can hear the seals barking, but with all the fresh air and walking that we do, we fall right to sleep and they do not bother us at all.

I hope all is well with everyone, keep in touch! Our e-mail is up and running but the WiFi signal here is very, very low so we sometimes have trouble getting things but it finds us eventually.

Our love to all.. miss you,

Candy and Johnny

Bend to McMinnville

On Tuesday of this week we left Bend, Or. and drove over to McMinnville. As I had said, the place we stayed in Bend was very lovely. I think it was the nicest RV park that we have stayed at on this trip. Although it rained for most of the weekend it was still nice.

McMinneville is in the middle of wine country here in Oregon. Today we went to several wineries and tased some very nice wines, and even bought a couple of bottles!! John tells me that this is really adding to the cost of the trip, but he picked out some good wines for himself also. The weather today started out overcast but as the day went on the skies cleared and the sun came out and it was beautiful. The hills covered with the grape vines are so pretty in the sunlight. Tomorrow the weather is suppose to be about the same, cloudy and cool in the morning and sunny and warm in the afternoon.

We are going to search out a couple of more vineyards tomorrow then leave here and head over to the coast and travel down the coast line for about a week. I hope to get some more pictures for you.

I hope all of you are enjoying the last days of summer. We are having a wonderful time!

Until next time. Love you all. Candy and Johnny

Candy n John RV

Hi All, We are in Bend, Or. The weather is beautiful, sunny and cool! We are at a lovely RV park called Crown Villa RV Resort. The sites are all large and trees all around. We will be here for the next three days. Tomorrow we are taking the day off to rest as I have come down with a cold. Monday we plan on doing some sightseeing around the area. There are so many places to see, many mountains and forests and lakes etc. I will try and get some photos out soon.
We had a fun time over in Redmond, Or. at the Family Motor Coach Assoc. Rally. John and I went to many of the seminars that they offered. John took classes to learn more about the coach and how to fix things. I on the other hand, took craft classes! And also some classes on computing.

This is one of the things that I learned, how to Blog!!! This seems so much better to get out the where and what we are doing, as I said I hope to add photos soon.
Hope all is well with everyone, remember to keep in touch, we love to hear from you also.
Until Later, Candy
